The Gift of Emotional Safety
In a world that prioritizes obedience, control, and external performance, The Gift of Emotional Safety offers a deeply compassionate, trauma‑informed approach to parenting that prioritizes emotional and relational development. When that comes first, the other skills naturally follow. By practicing nervous system regulation and handling conflict in ways that build trust rather than erode it, The Gift of Emotional Safety equips parents to raise securely attached, truly authentic, emotionally intelligent children who have a neurological blueprint for navigating life with resilience, empathy, and confidence.
Drawing from decades of clinical experience, developmental psychology, and neuroscience, Jacquelyn Wright shows how children grow and heal when caregivers become emotionally anchored guides—capable of regulating themselves, reading behavior compassionately, and responding with curiosity rather than reactivity. This book equips parents and professionals to understand how to identify needs underneath behavior, how to use emotionally connected discipline that shapes healthy conscience, and how to use advanced co-regulation skills to cultivate emotional safety.
As an added bonus, every chapter offers a section of practical tips specifically for foster parents to apply the principles with children who have a history of trauma in a way promotes trust, healing and growth.
