Daphne was born in Arizona but has always called Colorado her home. She was placed in the foster care system when she was four years old and was adopted at eight. While in the system, she met Dr. Cresswell, who became her psychiatrist. During one of their sessions, she told him that she wanted a “practice family,” someone to act like she belonged- if even temporarily. This inspired him and this was the beginning of Hope & Home (the simple version).
Even after being adopted, Hope & Home has always been her go-to family, the place she calls home.
Daphne’s experience in foster care was traumatic, an experience she believes no child should ever go through. That experience is what makes her so passionate about Hope & Home and her job. She gets to witness the difference her childhood dream makes in the lives of children in foster care today; to know that these children will never say (as she can) that their experience in foster care was worse than the trauma that got them placed there. Even after being adopted, Hope & Home has always been her go-to family, the place she calls home.
Outside of work, Daphne enjoys cuddling with her cat, reading books and playing video games. During the summer she can be found in the mountains- hiking, camping, or taking photos.
