Teddy Bear Clinic
A “bear-y” special event!
Originally designed for children in foster care, we are pleased to be bringing The Teddy Bear Clinic to all children and families in the San Luis Valley this year. This “beary” cute event is more than meets the eye. It is designed to help children create positive associations with the medical community – especially those who are particularly afraid of going to the doctor or the dentist. Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal in for their “annual wellness check.” While the eye exams, x-rays, stitches, and teeth cleanings are all “make-believe,” the doctors and nurses are all very real and excited to be volunteering their time for this special afternoon.
By the time kids leave the Teddy Bear Clinic, they will have a cute bandage on their bear, a positive experience with doctors, and sometimes, a desire to become a medical professional themselves one day.
Special Opportunity for Teens! If your teen is interested in shadowing a real-life doctor or nurse as a “resident” let us know when you register!
